If you could operate your own railroad: 1. What would be the name of your railroad 2. what would be its paint scheme 3. where would it be located/ where would its tracks go 4. how big would it be: class 1, class 2, regional, ect... 5. what type of locomotives would it roster 6. would it haul passengers, freight, or both 7. if it hauled freight, what type 8. what kind of rolling stock would it have 9. would it be part of an existing railroad, group, or company 1. The Alberta Rail System. 2.Yellow Nose, Green Body, & Blue, Red, & Orange Stripes near the back( Older locos have yellow cab). 3.Major Yards in Calgary, Edmonton, & Med. Hat( Major fictional Interchange with BNSF), Reaching into NE British Columbia, with a Branch to Yellowknife, NWT. Major Coal mines in SE Alberta, & Branch to Ft. Mcmurray Oilfields. 4.It would be a Class II on the Verge of a Class I. 5.SD70Macs 4300-4319, AC4400CWs 5200-5231 & 1840-1870. SD40-2s 9000-9057, C424s 2970-2999, SD80Macs 8000-8009, C40-8s 9100-9130 & 9149-9161, which are Widecabs, as well as various switchers (3GS-21Bs due for 2012). 6.Both Passengers & Freight. 7.Crude Oil, & Doublestacks from BNSF in Med. Hat, Doublestacks to & from Edmonton, Coal from Southern Alberta, Passengers & general goods from NWT, Forest products from BC, And a TGV line From Calgary to Edmonton. 8.Well cars, Extensive fleet of Cylindrical Grain Hoppers, Coal Bethgons, TGVs, Conventional passenger cars, 60ft Boxcars, MOW, & Tank cars. 9.It would be 50-25-25 owned by another fictional RR of mine, Western Canada Railways, Alberta gov. & Canadian Gov. I have Gifs of a few Locos, but Im not completly sure how to upload them to here.

If I could afford to do it I would run helper service on mountain passes in the western side of the US. Not sure of a name or paint but if you could afford to but some decent ac motors to shove trains up and over the passes the railroads might gobble it up. It would be cheaper for them to pay another company to do this cuz it would cut costs on shipping. I wouldn't mind having a hand full of some 70MACs. But GE is a more depenable locomotive so it would probably be smart to use them, ES44s, and some AC4400s. The ACes run good but they are rattle traps. Someone bought out EMD but didn't change the name or publicly annonouce it (that I know of). You'd think a new ACe would put down close to the same TE on the rail but they are closer to what a MAC will do. A new ES44 will put down around 160k on a 1% where the ACe is doing about 145-150K, MAC is right around 130K. (All at or close to 8mph pulling an average of 18,000 tons)

1. The Western Canada Railways.
2. It would be like the Wisconsin Central, but with a large beige Maple leaf in the middle. Passenger Locos & Cars have silver instead of Brown, & the Maple leaf is Gold.
3. It's southern mainline through B.C. goes through CPs former crowsnest pass route (Nelson, Midway, Grand Forks, Osoyoos, Hope). The North-Central line follows Pine Pass, through Hazelton, B.C. & Terminates at Port Simpson, B.C. The Northern Mainline splits at Dawson Creek, & goes north to to Whitehorse, Yukon, for a connection with the Alaska RR, & White Pass & Yukon Route(Which has recently completed its link to to Carmacks, Yukon). At the East Ends, There is a Line to Thunder Bay, Ont. & One to the Port of Chuchill, Manitoba (HBR acquired in May, 2011).
4.Class I.
5.SD60s 6000-6074(All three cab types), AC4400CWLs(CN Wide cab) 8900-9099, SD70Macs 8800-8811, SD40-2s 7500-8099 (A Lot!), B40-8s 3500-3599 ,& Various switchers, as well, WCR is currently testing the SD89Mac on its Southern Line. For passenger Locos, we have restored FP9As 900-914, FP9Bs 800-815, MP40PH-3Cs 400-449, & P42s 100-149. Plus 7 seasonally operating Steam locomotives.
6.Both Passengers & Freight.
7.Coal, Hazmat, Ore, Intermodal, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, Autos, Grain, General Goods, Scrap metal, just about anything, really.
8.Viewliner II cars on order, Numerous Cylindrical Grain Cars, Bethgon Coalporters, Autoracks, Budd Stainless steel passenger cars, 60ft Boxcars, Tank cars, & restored heavyweight Pullman cars for the steam excursions.
9.Headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan, it is fully independent.
As a Brief history, it was founded by the NWT Gov. in 1870, due to booming Grain Production. Soon, in 1873, the NWT gov. Pushed the RR westward into Ft. Calgary & Ft. Edmonton. In 1879, the B.C. & NWT governments agreed upon the Crowsnest pass route to what was then called Gastown (Now Vancouver), in order to ship the Grain Westward across the Pacific. At the Same time, WCR was also stretching north, building through Pine Pass, to Port Simpson. When the NWT split into Saskatchewan & Alberta, The Alberta Government took hold, & expanded the WCR like Crazy, Now We skip ahead to 1971, when the Alberta Gov. Finally let go of their tight grip on WCR. The WCR promptly spun off the Alberta Rail System, to operate all those unprofitable lines. Then, in 1974, with Via Rail forming, WCR initially hoped to spin off its money-losing passenger operations, too. But then, in 1977, something unusual happened, the passenger trains started making money. Particularly the Crowsnest Explorer. so, The WCR withdrew from any involvement with Via Rail, so too, Did ARS, whose Calgary-Based operations were overwhelmingly successful. This trend continues to this day, with ARS operating a TGV beside its Calgary-Edmonton mainline since 2006. Today, The WCR & ARS both roster the newest, biggest, locomotives, & have installed CTC along their entire system, since both do not have any trackage in the U.S.A.(Somewhat to The WCRs reluctance), the PTC mandate does not affect them. For the future, The WCR hopes to introduce its own TGV, this one going from Calgary, all the way to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The ARS is currently extending thier TGV north to Ft. McMurray, & south to Lethbridge.

Nice. Have you tried Railroad Tycoon? Its an older game but runs around the spoken conversation. It would be cool if Trainz had a "money" making script to run trains from one place to another that subtracted fuel costs, miantantence, and construction costs and added profits and gains in game.

Yeah, good game, but it lacks many of the qualities of TS. I have often thought about what a more company based TS would be like, though.
